Hi guys, how are you? In this article we will talk about anime of the genre Yaoi, Shounen Ai or BL (Boy Love) that is so successful among girls known as fujoshi. For those unaware of the yaoi genres, they are anime that show love between 2 men lightly or heavily.

Anyway, without further ado, let’s go to the list, and if you’re asking if I watched the anime on that list, some yes and some were referrals from people. As a boy I do not enjoy this genre, but honestly there are characters with much more attitude in anime yaoi than the protagonists of anime harem and ecchi.

The anime world is an interesting place to navigate and it would be a lot better if there were more characters like these from the genres we are going to introduce. Before the list let’s leave a summary:

What is the difference between yaoi, shounen ai and bl?

In practice shounen ai anime is lighter than yaoi which can be even a hentai. But people often use yaoi to refer to any anime with BL (Boy Love) love between boys, which are the anime in this article. We will not list any anime with inappropriate content in this article.

I always wonder why girls like these homosexual anime characters so much differently than men who watch the Yuri genre. Then I remembered that Kevin answered this question in the article Why do women like Yaoi? Unraveling the fujoshi.

Best Anime Yaoi, Shounen Ai and BL - fujoshi yaoi 1

Boku no piko – the yaoi everyone knows

This is that famous anime that friends point out to watch as a trick question, but it actually made a big hit among anime of the genre yaoi, shounen ai and BL.

Pico is an optimistic and extremely effeminate BOY who works at his grandfather’s cafeteria, Café Bebe, during the summer. Tamotsu is a white collar worker looking for an escape from the routine and inherence of his everyday life.

When they meet at the cafe, sparks of love and lust quickly bring the two together. Conventional notions of age, gender, and sexuality are broken when the couple seeks carnal gratification in each other’s company.

Boku no piko - the yaoi everyone knows

My opinion about Boku no Pico

For starters, this one because of its plot, characters and other things, has become a joke motif for men in the homo phobic sense and has spawned a number of bad jokes. But it also served to increase his reputation, which for good or ill has led a good number of people to watch and kill curiosity, I confess that I am one of those people.

Its opening in English is often used to “play” with people to make jokes. An extremely effeminate boy working in a cafe owned by his grandfather. Just with this description is enough to realize that would not be a normal and ordinary anime.

And we have to focus on the “extremely effeminate” as this is not a kind of exaggeration. Immoral? I don’t know if it comes to that much, but it comes very close, only in my opinion. Well, there had to be a good reason for this anime to become a joke, in a genre that is full of stuff like that, but not as “blatantly” as this one. My grade is 7!

Sekaiichi hatsukoi – anime yaoi

Ritsu is a literary editor who wants to establish himself in the market without his father’s influence and to achieve this he is transferred to another publisher. At this publisher he finds himself working as a novice manga editor instead of editor. There, Ritsu is introduced to the infamous editor-in-chief Masamune Takano, a persistent man who always seeks results.

The plot begins to unfold at this point, for in fact Takano is Ritsu’s high school love. Now, with the two reunited after several years of separation, the reestablishment of their relationship is marked by Takano’s promise to make Ritsu say that love him again.

Sekaiichi hatsukoi - animes yaoi

My opinion about Sekaiichi Hatsukoi

This anime yaoi also follows three other couples who are interconnected within the manga industry, with each being subject to the emergence of first love. However the focus is little. As you can see, this one is mainly focused on the story that first love is the best.

I agree, but there is also the story of the summer novels that are fleeting, and especially the teenage novels that often fail and only make us depressed and make us suffer when they end. I prefer a stronger and lasting love that often requires maturity, but I liked this anime. It’s always nice to see that not all loves are lost forever. My grade is 8!

Romantic junjou

Misaki Takahashi is a high school student who is preparing for university entrance exams. In order to reduce the stress of studying, he accepts the help of his older brother and famous author Akihiko Usami’s best friend. However, he discovers that Usami’s books are of a very vulgar genre, and that there may be something vulgar appearing within him as well.

In addition to this, the anime follows the story of two other couples loosely linked to the previous one. One of them being the very passionate but often complicated relationship between university professor Hiroki Kamijou and pediatrician Nowaki Kusama.

The third story, on the other hand, shows how love can become obsessive when eighteen-year-old rich Shinobu Takatsuki finally discovers something he can’t have so easily – the literature teacher You Miyagi.

Romantic junjou

My opinion about Junjou Romantica

This is a full plate for people who love love, love and a little love for distraction. Yes, that sweet thing is sticky and it takes work to get out. All this in a good way and without any kind of malicious intent behind the words.

There is plenty of passion as these three couples try to reach their goals in life while falling into temptation and anguish with their partners. Sharing experiences, feelings, sensations and other things that make the plot hotter and more interesting.

Things like that just aren’t better because they’re between men. Unfortunately anime writers can’t make or are afraid to make a story with such protagonists in genres such as fantasy and drama. I can’t understand why this happens, there is no logic in them making such “cowardly” protagonists that they have a harem just for them. My grade for this yaoi anime is 8!

Koisuru boukun

Tetsuhiro Morinaga is in love with his veteran Souichi Tatsumi. He even managed to confess his love. The problem is that Tatsumi is an aggressive, egocentric and outspoken homophobic.

However, Tetsuhiro somehow managed to fall in love with Tatsumi, who is the kind of man who declares that all gay men should be wiped off the face of the planet. But an unfortunate or happy accident with an aphrodisiac drug brings the two men physically against Souichi’s will, and this experience has a transformative effect on both.

Koisuru boukun

My opinion about Koisuru Boukun

With a synopsis like this, it is hard to say that it does not give a great curiosity to watch this anime. No matter it’s a homosexual relationship, such an intrigue will always arouse interest in people.

After all, it is not every day that we see an anime yaoi where two characters with extremely different concepts are united by a work of destiny. And to complete it is not the free will of both parties, as one of them would not accept this fact if it were in their full consciousness.

And it becomes even more interesting to think about what will happen after this, and I venture to say that this is a case where palliative measures will not help, only extreme measures will resolve that issue. My note for this is 7!

Loveless – Shounen-ai with nekos

In this universe, people are born with cat ears and syrup, which disappear when they engage in sex. For this reason these extras are symbols of innocence and purity. In addition, fighting is performed only in “fight pairs” or couples. In these one is known as the sacrifice and I receive the damage, and the other is the fighter who as the name says is the one who attacks.

Ritsuka Aoyagi is a 12-year-old boy who for some unknown reason suffers from amnesia. His brother was recently killed, and as if his life was no longer bad enough, on his first day at the new school he next to a stranger named Agatsuma soubi, who claims to have met his brother. Ritsuka thinks Agatsuma and his brother were a fighting pair.

Together they try to find the truth behind their brother’s death and the organization known as the “seven moons” that may be responsible for this. In the meantime, it seems that these two are becoming closer that they should be.

Loveless - a shounen-ai with nekos

My opinion about Loveless

I don’t have much to comment on, as this one closely resembles other genres that don’t necessarily have these homosexual relationships. For it is a novel that has few particularities and has almost the same elements of an anime as taboo tattoo.

My grade for this yaoi anime is 7.

Gravitation – Yaoi about music

The protagonist, Shuichi, has always dreamed of following in the footsteps of his pop idol ryuichi Sakuma and the band Nittle Grasper. Together with his best friend Hiro, Shuichi formed a band called Bad Luck and they managed to sign with a major label. Unfortunately, the studio’s deadlines are approaching an end and Shuichi hasn’t finished the lyrics for any of the songs yet. Being stressed and uninspired, Hiro advises him to get a girlfriend.

Walking through the park late at night, Shuichi’s latest creations fly and reach the feet of a stranger. Unfortunately, this mysterious stranger is the famous novelist Eiri Yuki, who completely crushes the young singer, saying he has “zero talent”. Shuichi gets so upset that he managed to finish his song just to find and confront Yuki once again.

Gravitation - A yaoi about music

My opinion about Gravitation

That typical anime that someone is humiliated by someone else and decides to do everything to be recognized. I don’t see much anime with this question, maybe because it’s hard to work in a way that doesn’t make the plot boring and predictable. For we already know that hating and loving are both sides of the same coin, and giving a flawed and depthless plot the anime gets boring.

Yes, it’s a cliche, but this isn’t the kind of malleable cliche that looks good anyway. This is one of the anime that pointed me out, but I haven’t heard criticism about it, but I don’t think I can generalize and make statements without watching.

Supers lovers

Hearing news that his mother was on the brink of death, Haru Kaidou, who is the eldest son of the family, flies to Canada. The moment he arrives, he learns that not only has his mother deceived him, but he must take care of his foster brother, Ren Kaidou, an antisocial boy who is more comfortable with dogs than with people.

Haru initially has difficulty reaching Ren, but their relationship eventually develops. He makes a promise to Ren: They will live together in Japan after Haru graduates from high school. However, due to an unfortunate accident, Haru loses all memories of the summer they spent together, including the promise he made. Five years later, waiting for Haru to fulfill his promise, Ren arrives in Tokyo; but to Haru, Ren is just a random boy who claims to be his brother.

Supers lovers

My opinion about Supers Lovers

I found this interesting because it is a typical anime cliché and was equally applied here even because they are both men. The parenting cliché is global and doesn’t choose gender, that’s what I found out.

I have to admit, I’ll never see this cliche the same way again. I used to think that only heterosexual relationships would happen, but after this anime and the citrus anime, I was much more open to new experiences. It is funny but it is as the saying goes, not only bread that man lives. It is the reference for the smart guys on duty. My grade is 7!

Uragiri wa boku at namae wo shitteiru

Growing up as an orphan, Yuki Sakurai questions her reason for living and ability to see a person’s painful memory by simply touching them. After receiving anonymous notes telling him to die, Yuki is unable to get rid of the uncomfortable feeling that forms inside him. Unbeknownst to him, he is being watched, both by people who want to harm him and those who want to protect him.

One foggy night, Yuki’s life is saved by a man with silver eyes and black hair, a man he has never met before but looks familiar to him. With the arrival of this mysterious stranger, Yuki’s forgotten past was awakened and the purpose of his existence appeared before him.

Uragiri wa boku at namae wo shitteiru

My opinion about Uragiri wa boku

This is another that I do not have much to comment on either because I did not watch it or because it is a very widespread cliche and rarely brings us any surprise. But it may be interesting, we will only know how to watch and so I am indicating.

And I am also indicating that it is very popular and has great reviews from people about it. Who knows if he’s not as good as Angel Beats (which I think is unlikely because Angel Beats is the # 1 anime in my opinion).

Hitorijime my hero

Masahiro Setagawa is a hopeless teenager who is often used by neighborhood bullies as a scrapbook boy. However, his life changes dramatically when he meets Kousuke Ooshiba, a man known as the “Bear Killer” who knocks down gangs from neighborhoods.

A year later, Masahiro and his former friend Kensuke Ooshiba attend high school only to find out that Kousuke is their math teacher. As the three approach, Masahiro begins to see Kousuke as his “hero,” and Kousuke develops an urgent desire to protect Masahiro. However, their normal lives change when Kensuke’s childhood friend Asaya Hasekura returns, seeing Kensuke as more than just a friend, to her surprise.

Hitorijime my hero

My opinion about Hitorijime my hero

Only by the synopsis can you realize that a very troubled love triangle will roll. Jealousy, intrigue, occasional fights all this always happens when you have this kind of relationship. I can say that it is not the kind of cliché that gives most popularity to a work, but it is certainly always interesting to see how the characters develop the relationship always trying to get along better than the other competing parties.

I haven’t watched this anime yet, but I don’t think it will take me long to do this. However until then I can not evaluate better than I did now. And just like the previous ones, this one has great reviews and has a good plot and a great studio.

Ling qi – a chinese bl yaoi

Yang Jinghua, one of the protagonists, had an accident and the moment he woke up, he looked 10 years younger. Yang Jinghua thought he was reborn and as he was about to make his way to a new beginning, a rich, handsome white-haired guy named Duanmu Xi appeared right in front of him. Not only did he tell Yang Jinghua that Yang Jinghua was already dead, but he even asked for an invitation: “Young man, do you want to sign a contract with me and stay with me for the rest of your life?”

Ling qi - a chinese bl yaoi

My opinion about Ling Qi

This question was quite contradictory, after all he was already dead and dead no longer has life. But in order not to play the part of someone against whom you are always finding fault with things, I will come out and imagine that this “life” is the afterlife. I advise you to do the same. And yes, this is another one I haven’t watched yet.

As you can tell by the names of the characters this is Chinese anime, but that doesn’t mean the animation or the plot is bad. I mean, I can’t say anything, but I won’t make the mistake of judging a book by its cover just as I did with the great anime King’s Avatar. What I can say for sure is that voice acting will greatly annoy those who are not used to it, at least in the beginning. And this one will also go unnoticed for now.

Other animes yaoi, shounen ai and bl

I don’t think they were as many as I planned because I don’t have much experience with the yaoi genre. But I tried to get only the best, and I think I did it. This one is especially for women and also for those who like to always try something new.

Thank you, my dear reader, for reading this article until now and until the next. Finally I will leave a complete list of anime genres of yaoi, shounen ai or BL below for a peek:
