Every year, more than 300 animes are released, with the vast majority inspired by mangas! In this article, we will recommend some animes inspired by mangas for you to watch and read the manga.
Mangas are the famous Japanese comic magazines, resembling American comics, with various changes. Of course, manga is not a copy of American comics, nor of other types of magazines.
The main difference of a manga is its content regarding art, stories, and expression. Japanese stories will always have a very pronounced side that leads to a strong expression of feelings, meaning, always be prepared to watch animes like CLANNAD and ANGEL BEATS.
This list is based on my opinion, MAL, and also opinions from friends. We always recommend that you check out the animes listed by us, as we always try to bring content that everyone will enjoy, haha.
Unfortunately, this article is written in an open manner, without choosing genres or story styles that appeal to a specific audience, so probably some stories may not interest you.
Table of Contents
Kiss X Sis
Synopsis: KissxSis tells the story of Keita Suminoe, a young student in elementary school. He lives in a house with his parents and his twin stepsisters, Ako and Riko, who kiss him and harass him while competing to see who shows him more love. Although they consider themselves siblings, they do not share blood relations; their parents married while they were children.
Still, the relationship deeply disturbs Keita, as his parents allow this relationship, and since they were raised together, it scandalizes a large part of those who come to know about it. The twins, however, are persistent and do everything possible to be with him. In this context, other characters with the same interest enter the scene, and the plot unfolds around the competition for Keita.

Comments: KissXSis is a romantic comedy with a less adult erotic tone, despite several indecent scenes. It is a relatively light and cliché story in some points, like the young little brother wanting to maintain only a common relationship with his sisters and the various disputes for him, however, the story always creates points that lead him to some climax with one or more of the girls. Among many romantic comedy animes, this is one of the ones I recommend the most.
The order of the anime is a bit confusing, it is not as inconsistent as Monogatari Series, but it is inconsistent among the main Anime and OVAs. It doesn’t matter whether you watch the Anime or OVA first, but following the order can help you a bit. Considering that both the anime and the OVA have 12 episodes each.
Ansatsu Kyoushitsu
Synopsis: Class 3-E of Kunugigaoka school is introduced to a rather strange figure. It turns out that he is a monster in the shape of an octopus and starting today will be their new teacher!
To make matters worse, this monster was responsible for destroying a good part of the moon and intends to do the same with planet Earth in a year, but before that, he will train all the students in this class for a rather peculiar mission: to teach them to kill him in less than a year, before he commits such an act.

Comments: The coolest thing about Ansatsu Kyoushitsu, or Assassination Classroom, is its characters, charismatic and surprising. It is hard to imagine a kind monster who befriends those who wish to kill him, for the sake of Justice and mutual desire.
The story develops very well, with 2 seasons of 24 episodes, impossible for something not to turn out good. Of course, no story is perfect, but some come close to that.
We have roles distributed in the story, with the protagonism divided, although some stand out more. It is a Shounen, so despite everything, it will be something fictional with abilities involved, however, superhuman abilities, so nothing too serious.
Trinity Seven
Synopsis: Every day is a normal day in the small town where Kasuga Arata lives; however, everything changed on the day of the Black Sun, and following it, a magician appears before him. The Black Sun caused the Breakdown Phenomenon that destroyed the city where he lives.
Due to this, his normal life was artificially reconstructed by a Grimoire that his childhood friend had left. What is the purpose of the magician coming to the city? What will he do with the memory of the Grimoire?

Comments: Trinity Seven is super interesting and exciting. Despite the main character having a wrong view about some things, haha.
The characters’ powers are unique and each evolves throughout the story in a way that never disappoints. The chronology is also very fluid, with details very well explained, despite having some small holes.
But if you don’t like Harem, badass characters, and things like that, don’t watch it, but it’s worth the experience of watching, okay?
Yamada-kun A 7-nin No Majo
Synopsis: Ryuu Yamada is known as a delinquent at his school; he was skipping classes after a year of attending school. One day, he accidentally falls from a flight of stairs onto Urara Shiraishi, the ace student of the school.
Yamada wakes up and discovers that he has swapped bodies with her! The two try to reverse the change and discover that kissing causes the body swap. At the suggestion of the vice- president of the student council Toranosuke Miyamura, they revive the Supernatural Studies Club. The club finds other “witches” with different powers that are activated with a kiss.
Comments: It’s a mix of genres, more focused on romantic comedy and magic, but presented in a school universe.
What’s interesting are the characters’ personalities, each having one according to their powers, but it’s worth remembering that it is their personalities that define the powers (repeating…). The powers are also cool, as they are somewhat innocent powers, but they do depend on their users. There is variety in their favor, like combinations.
This is one that anyone should watch, out of curiosity, analysis, or fun.
Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi (Erased)
Synopsis: The hardworking manga author Fujinuma Satoru is plagued by the fear of expressing himself. However, he has the supernatural ability to be forced to avoid deaths and disasters by being sent back in time before the incident occurs, repeating time until the accident is avoided.
One day, he gets involved in an accident that incriminates him as a murderer. Desperate to save the victim, he goes back in time only to find himself as an elementary school student a month before his classmate Hinazuki Kayo disappears. Satoru now embarks on a new quest: to save Kayo and solve the mystery of her disappearance.

Comments: This is one of the best animes on this list, being one of the most talked about and watched during its release, with a rating of 8.65 on MAL.
Its story is simply fantastic, a criterion for this is adding elements of time travel, something that many authors are afraid to attribute to their works, as it is a theme that, if poorly used, will turn everything into a failure. Erased does not present complex themes, as Steins;Gate does, although Erased is the type of story that does not need much explanation, but rather appreciation for its characters, settings, and story development.
One of the most prominent points in Erased is its characters, their stories, and also their importance throughout the narrative, despite being frustrating at times. There are touching stories, and some possess a strong determination for their goals or the well-being of others. The romance presented in the story is also enjoyable, something more innocent and simple.
Kiseijuu: Sei No Kakuritsu
Synopsis: One day, aliens called Parasites, which host themselves in living beings and take over their bodies, invade Earth. They attack humans by entering through their noses and ears.
Izumi Shinichi is a 17-year-old young man who lives with his parents in a quiet neighborhood in Tokyo and ends up being targeted by one of these aliens, but the individual fails to take over his body. Having to coexist, what will their fates be?

Comments: The Kiseijuu manga is one of the most famous, also having an incredible reprint mark of copies. It’s not for nothing; it truly deserves it.
The story becomes very realistic and touching due to Shinichi’s emotional growth, showing a reality, let’s say, unique. His development is crucial for Kiseijuu to be what it is. Having been close to death and experiencing very sudden emotional shocks, he reaches a mature state.
It was hard for him to accept everything that was happening; I think that’s natural, haha. There’s not much to say about the characters; they are all ordinary people who have or had normal lives.
To Love-ru / To Love-ru Darkness
Synopsis: The story of To Love-ru revolves around Rito Yuuki, a high school student who cannot (or cannot bring himself to) confess to the girl of his dreams, Haruna Sairenji. One day, when he returns home and goes to the bathtub, a mysterious naked girl appears out of nowhere. Her name is Lala Satalin, and she comes from the planet Deviluke, where she is the heir to the throne.
Her father wants her to return home so she can marry one of her suitors. But she ends up deciding that she wants to marry Rito and stay on Earth. With that, Commander Zastin was ordered to bring Lala back. He reports to the emperor that Rito could marry Lala, but the Earthling says that the marriage is impossible unless it is with the person you love.
Lala truly falls in love with Rito and says she wants to marry him after hearing what he said. Her father decides that if Rito can protect Lala, then he can marry her, but if he cannot protect her from her other suitors and does not meet the king’s expectations, he will kill Rito and destroy Earth. However, Lala convinces her father not to destroy Earth, deciding to live there with Rito.

Comments: To Love-ru is a typical romantic comedy, but with some different and exciting elements, haha.
To Love-ru overall has a very well-developed story centered solely on ecchi, but it is not like in fanservice, it is something that is part of the story, at least fans of ecchi and romantic comedy will not be disappointed with To Love-ru.
The main character has many peculiarities. Commonly hated for being considered the “Virgin of animes,” throughout the story he loosens up, but this is thanks to the characters who have many perverted plans, just like Momo’s “Harem Plan.”
The coolest thing about this story is its characters and the ecchi, if you like that. The characters are charismatic, and like in many animes, they have the typical Tsundere way, melting in the main character’s arms at the end…
More than 300 animes are released, with almost 200 of them inspired by mangas! Mangas are the famous Japanese comic magazines, resembling American comics, with various changes. Of course, manga is not a copy of American comics, nor of other types of magazines.
The main difference of a manga is its content regarding art, stories, and expression. Japanese stories will always have a very pronounced side that leads to a strong expression of feelings, meaning, always be prepared to watch animes like CLANNAD and ANGEL BEATS, understand?
Many animes are released, and few reach the expected numbers, which may differ for their mangas. This list was made based on my recommendations and those of others. Try to watch and read these works; it’s worth it, at the end of the article we will tell you where to buy and things like that, there are always options!
Maken-ki
Synopsis: Based on the manga series by Hiromitsu Takeda. This romantic comedy is about Takeru Ohyama, a typical perverted teenager. His new school does not require entrance exams, and he just made it co-ed! Unfortunately, his dreams of a happy school life are frustrated when he discovers that the school is much more than it seems.
All students wield a special point-a-Maken to unleash their magical abilities in duels! Can Takeru find a Maken that works for him? Even trying to fit into a new school and deal with all kinds of problems with girls?

Comments: Maken-ki is like any other ecchi anime with plenty of fanservice, but it’s worth checking out for the story and being a very lively anime. Due to its liveliness, you will hardly get bored, in addition to containing comedy and a bit of romantic comedy. Another strong point is having a badass character, haha!
Freezing
Synopsis: Somewhere in the future, Earth has been invaded and is at war with alien beings from another dimension called Nova. In order to combat them, Pandoras, genetically altered girls with great fighting ability and special powers, and Limiters, partners of the Pandoras who use “Freezing” (freezing), which limits the mobility of the Nova.
The series focuses on Kazuya Aoi, a “limiter” whose deceased sister was a “Pandora” and on Satellizer El Bridget, a powerful “Pandora” with a cold personality, both enrolled at West Genetics Academy, one of many academies that train Pandoras and limiters.
Despite all the warnings his friends give him about Satellizer, who suffers from intense affophobia, Kazuya decides to become her friend and Limiter. The story follows Kazuya and Satellizer’s relationship, the academy students, and the war against the Nova.

Comments: This anime encompasses several different elements, making it an anime for almost all tastes! The story has a very interesting Sci-fi that involves many fights between characters, in addition to having drama and also ecchi. The Sci-fi is confusing to understand in Freezing, but nothing better than having a good observation of the story.
It’s very cool how the characters’ pasts are demonstrated, leading us to a spirit of overcoming any past grievances; overcoming problems is very highlighted in Freezing. The ecchi is a bit taken to a more dramatic side, but sometimes forced. I highly recommend it for its diverse themes and characters.
Mangaka-san to assistant-san to
Synopsis: The story tells the life of a perverted mangaka, Yuuki Aito, and his assistant, Sahoto Ashisu. Constantly pressured by his editor and inexperienced with girls, Aito asks Ashisu to act as a reference.

Comments: It’s a very nice anime to watch for fun. It encompasses romantic comedy and romance, nothing forced, everything feels natural. Even though he is a pervert, the story never becomes erotic, without excessive fanservice. Additionally, the characters are very essential for this pleasant atmosphere in the story!
Nazo no Kanojo X
Synopsis: When the strangely peculiar Mikoto Urabe transfers to Akira Tsubaki’s class, she discovers that life has thrown her the strangest curveball ever. Because while Urabe may be a solitary anti-social who sleeps at her desk, carries a pair of scissors in her panties, and bursts into fits of insane laughter, there is something about her that Tsubaki simply cannot put his finger on.
Until he accidentally puts his finger on her, and suddenly the phrase “sharing a spit with a girl” takes on a whole new meaning! Before she can wipe the drool off her face, Tsubaki is mysteriously addicted to Urabe, which is not as strange as the fact that she not only finds this normal but seems to already have plans for her new drooling boyfriend.

Comments: This is one of the best on this list; I don’t recommend it to just anyone, as the story can be a bit banal and nonsensical. However, the story presents a Sci-fi aspect that brings intrigues leading to a point of mystery. This point is a somewhat different, fun, and youthful romance. I think if our lives were like this anime, it would be exciting; watch it and see how good it is!
Hellsing
Synopsis: The plot takes place in England in 1999, which, threatened by supernatural creatures, is protected by the Royal Order of Protestant Knights, the Hellsing Organization. Founded and commanded by the Hellsing family for over 100 years, the secret organization specializes in combating beings of darkness.
Led by Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing, among her subordinates are the butler and former combatant Walter C. Donez, the rookie Ceras Victoria, and the powerful vampire Alucard. In this scenario, a conflict between the Hellsing Protestants and the Catholics of the Vatican’s Section XIII adds to the resurrection of an old enemy, the Millennium group, responsible for the artificial creation of vampires that spread throughout the United Kingdom.
The Millennium was an organization formed by several SS (Schutzstaffel) officers, the elite of the Nazi troops. It was intended for research involving vampires, so they could be used in battles by Nazi Germany in World War II.

Comments: You will never see a more badass vampire than Alucard. Being an older anime, the deaths and blood are very expressive. The story always takes place in dark environments surrounded by smoke and slums, in addition to crimes like rape and theft.
It’s the type of story for those who don’t seek a limit for censorship or for those who don’t want to waste time on mediocre stories. I highly recommend it, just like my friends did before creating this list!
Sora no Otoshimono
Synopsis: Sakurai Tomoki, a young man whose motto is “Peace and quiet is the best,” has been having the same strange dream since he was little about a girl who always asks for his help, but he can never remember her face after waking up. Eishirou Sugata, a veteran of his school, believes that the dream is about the “New World.”
Sugata invites Tomoki to analyze an anomaly, which according to him, is the New World. This anomaly would pass over their city at midnight, and it is Tomoki’s chance to discover the meaning of his dream. While waiting under the cherry trees with his friends, Sugata and Sohara, his childhood friend, the anomaly in the sky appears, and an unknown being falls from the sky; this being is the angel Ikaros.

Comments: This is one of my favorite animes. Yes, I am a fan of ecchi! But still, this is a serious list, so don’t think I’m putting my interests first!
Sora no Otoshimono is a very lively anime and balanced in terms of emotions to be conveyed. It is a romantic comedy and always presents this aspect as a focus; the perfect combination forms between this comedy and the ecchi. The ecchi is not heavy; it only incites perverted things; you won’t see breasts flying or physics being absurdly altered.
In addition to having mysteries and a bit of Sci-fi, nothing too complex. The characters are very pleasant, fun, and each presents strong emotions. Another thing is Ikaros’s silly side regarding love and life things; this side is fun and makes us think a bit about our own lives.
Another thing that leaves me very amazed with Sora no Otoshimono is the emotions of the characters and the emotions conveyed to the reader/viewer. Most moments are very sad, but it’s nice to see the bonds and values of friendships portrayed in the anime.
I couldn’t fail to mention the art of Suu Minazuki, the author and mangaka responsible for this work and also the author of Plunderer. A very beautiful and unique art; all his mangas have their authentic and molded traits by him. Highly recommend, friends!
Sankarea
Synopsis: The story revolves around a student, Furuya Chihiro, who is obsessed with zombies; even his dream is to kiss a zombie girl. A set of unexpected circumstances leads Chihiro to meet a beautiful and elegant girl named Rhea Sanka.
Together they try to revive a cat that died in an accident. Shortly after, Chihiro discovers that Rhea wants to get rid of all her mortal responsibilities and become a zombie.
Comments: It’s an intriguing story, hard to define. It can be considered a very light Sci-fi; it also contains romance and comedy. The beginning is quite boring and slow, but the story develops in a very good way; it’s worth checking out if you like something more leaning towards Slice of Life, but don’t be fooled; it’s an anime to be observed very carefully.
