Terms of Use

These Terms of Use govern access to and use of the Suki Desu website (skdesu.com), operated under CNPJ 22.973.769/0001-29, with its registered office in Anápolis/GO, Brazil. By accessing any page of this site, the user confirms that they have read and agreed to the conditions set out herein.

The Suki Desu website, accessible at skdesu.com, is operated by the legal entity registered under CNPJ 22.973.769/0001-29, with its registered office in the Jardim Progresso neighbourhood, Anápolis, Goiás, Brazil, postal code 75.063-600. Suki Desu has been operating online since 2014 and its responsible editor is Kevin Henrique.

By accessing, browsing or using any feature of Suki Desu, the user fully accepts these Terms of Use, the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy. Any person who does not agree with any of the conditions set out herein must discontinue use of the site immediately.

These Terms apply to all visitors and users of the site, regardless of language, device or country of access.

For the purposes of these Terms, the following terms have the meanings assigned to them below.

Any term not defined here shall be interpreted according to its ordinary meaning in the context of Brazil's Internet Civil Rights Framework (Marco Civil da Internet — Law 12.965/2014) and applicable Brazilian law.

  • Suki Desu or Operator: the legal entity registered under CNPJ 22.973.769/0001-29 that operates the site skdesu.com.
  • User: any natural person or legal entity that accesses, browses or interacts with the Suki Desu website.
  • Content: texts, articles, images, embedded videos, lists, dictionaries, courses and other materials published on the site.
  • Service: the set of features made available by Suki Desu to the User, free of charge and via the internet.
  • Site: the domain skdesu.com and all its subdomains and associated pages.

Suki Desu is a free editorial content platform dedicated to Japanese culture, the Japanese language, anime, manga, otaku culture and travel to Japan. The site publishes articles, guides, lists, dictionaries and educational materials, with no subscription fee or paid access to the main content.

Content is offered in 15 languages, including Portuguese, English, Spanish and Japanese, in order to reach readers around the world who are interested in Japan and its culture.

The Service is informational and educational in nature. Nothing published by Suki Desu constitutes professional advice of any kind — legal, financial, medical or otherwise. Users are responsible for verifying critical information with qualified sources and professionals.

All Content produced and published by Suki Desu — including texts, articles, scripts, the selection and arrangement of information, the logo, trademark, visual identity and layout — is protected by Brazilian copyright law (Law 9.610/1998) and by international treaties. Ownership belongs to Suki Desu or, where indicated, to its licensors.

Short excerpts from Suki Desu Content may be quoted solely on the following conditions: (a) the source is expressly identified as Suki Desu; (b) a dofollow link to the original page is included; and (c) the use serves no direct commercial purpose. Any use beyond these conditions requires the Operator's prior written authorisation.

Third-party materials that may be embedded in the site — including videos, licensed images and typefaces — are governed by their own licences and terms of use, which the User must independently comply with.

  • Permitted: reading and sharing a link to the original page on social networks or other websites.
  • Permitted: quoting a short excerpt (up to three paragraphs) with express credit to 'Suki Desu' and a dofollow link to the original URL.
  • Prohibited: reproducing articles, guides or lists in full, even with attribution.
  • Prohibited: using Content for commercial purposes without the Operator's prior written authorisation.
  • Prohibited: carrying out automated scraping, bulk harvesting or indexing of Content by third-party systems without authorisation.
  • Prohibited: removing or altering copyright notices, trademarks or original credits.
  • Prohibited: using the Suki Desu brand, logo or visual identity without prior authorisation.

Suki Desu is made available for personal, non-commercial and lawful use. The User undertakes to use the site in a manner consistent with Brazilian law, these Terms and sound internet usage practices.

The following conduct is expressly prohibited, without prejudice to other prohibitions established by applicable law:

  • Accessing the site by means of bots, scrapers, crawlers or any automated system not authorised by the Operator.
  • Carrying out denial-of-service attacks (DDoS), overloading the servers or attempting to compromise the availability of the site.
  • Attempting to circumvent security measures, authentication or access controls implemented on the site.
  • Reverse-engineering the source code, structure or internal mechanisms of the site.
  • Collecting personal data of other users by any means, without consent and without a legal basis.
  • Publishing or transmitting content that is illegal, defamatory, racist, discriminatory, obscene or that infringes third-party rights.
  • Using the site for fraudulent, deceptive or harmful purposes against Suki Desu, other users or third parties.
  • Impersonating Suki Desu, Kevin Henrique or any other user or entity.

Suki Desu may make available spaces for comments, messages or other forms of user-submitted content. By submitting any content, the User warrants that they hold the relevant rights over that material and grants Suki Desu a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual licence to display, reproduce, moderate, adapt and remove the submitted content to the extent required for the operation of the site.

Suki Desu reserves the right to moderate, edit or remove any user-submitted content at any time and without prior notice if it determines that such content violates these Terms, applicable law or the site's editorial standards. The absence of immediate moderation does not imply the Operator's approval or endorsement of that content.

The User who submitted the content bears sole responsibility for it. Suki Desu is not liable for opinions, information or materials posted by third parties in the site's interactive spaces.

  • Prohibited: publishing content that incites hatred, violence or discrimination on the basis of origin, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or any other characteristic.
  • Prohibited: sending spam, chain messages, repetitive messages or unsolicited promotional content.
  • Prohibited: including links to malicious websites, phishing pages, malware or illegal content.
  • Prohibited: sharing personal data of third parties without their consent.
  • Prohibited: publishing content that infringes the copyright, trademarks or other intellectual property rights of third parties.
  • Prohibited: using comment spaces for commercial purposes or systematic self-promotion.

Suki Desu is monetised through advertising, primarily via Google AdSense and Google's advertising partners. Advertisements are displayed on the site's pages and may be targeted on the basis of advertising cookies, as described in the Cookie Policy. The display of an advertisement does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation or editorial partnership between Suki Desu and the advertiser.

The site may contain links to external websites, embedded videos from third-party platforms and other externally sourced resources. Suki Desu does not control, review or accept responsibility for the content, availability, privacy policies or commercial practices of those sites and services. Access to external links is at the User's own risk.

The presence of an external link on Suki Desu does not imply endorsement, approval or recommendation of the linked site or service. Users should review the terms and privacy policies of each site they visit.

The processing of personal data collected by Suki Desu is governed by Brazil's General Data Protection Law (LGPD — Law 13.709/2018) and is set out in full in the site's Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. Those documents specify which data are collected, for what purposes and for how long they are retained.

Suki Desu does not sell its users' personal data. Data are processed for the purposes of operating the site, personalising advertisements (via Google AdSense, subject to the user's consent) and improving the browsing experience.

Requests to exercise data-subject rights under the LGPD — such as access, rectification, erasure or portability of personal data — must be sent to contato@skdesu.com, clearly identifying the User and describing the request.

The Content and Service of Suki Desu are provided on an 'as is' basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Suki Desu does not warrant that the Content will always be complete, accurate, up to date, free of errors, fit for any particular purpose or that it will meet the User's individual expectations.

Suki Desu does not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the site. The service may be temporarily suspended for maintenance, updates or for technical reasons beyond the Operator's control, without giving rise to any right to compensation on the part of the User.

No information obtained from Suki Desu — whether about the Japanese language, culture, travel, visas or any other subject — substitutes the guidance of a qualified professional. Users who make decisions based solely on the site's Content assume full responsibility for the risks arising from that choice.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable Brazilian law — and without prejudice to consumer rights under Brazil's Consumer Protection Code (CDC — Law 8.078/1990) that cannot be excluded by contract — Suki Desu shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from access to, or inability to access, the site, or from the use of or reliance on the information published herein.

This limitation includes, without restriction: decisions made by the User on the basis of the site's Content; loss of profits; loss of data; damages caused by viruses, malware or other malicious code transmitted by third parties; and the unavailability or failure of third-party services integrated into the site.

In no event shall Suki Desu's total liability to the User exceed the amount paid by the User to the Operator in the twelve months preceding the relevant event. Given the free nature of the Service, that amount will be zero in the vast majority of cases.

Suki Desu reserves the right to alter, suspend, restrict or discontinue any area, feature or resource of the site at any time, without prior notice and without incurring any obligation to compensate the User.

These Terms of Use may be revised and updated by the Operator at any time. The version in force is always the one published on this page, bearing the update date shown at the top of the document. Continued use of the site after any changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised conditions.

Users are encouraged to review these Terms periodically to remain informed of any changes.

These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil. The following legislation applies in particular: Brazil's Internet Civil Rights Framework (Marco Civil da Internet — Law 12.965/2014), Brazil's General Data Protection Law (LGPD — Law 13.709/2018) and the Consumer Protection Code (CDC — Law 8.078/1990), to the extent applicable.

The parties agree that the courts of the District (Comarca) of Anápolis, State of Goiás, Brazil, shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising from these Terms or from the use of the Suki Desu website, and expressly waive any other forum, however privileged.

Should any provision of these Terms be declared invalid or unenforceable by a competent authority, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect and shall not be affected by such invalidity.

Suki Desu's failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of the right to demand full compliance at a later date, nor does it create a precedent for future situations.

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between the User and Suki Desu with respect to use of the site, superseding any prior understandings on the same subject matter.

In the event of any discrepancy between the Portuguese version of these Terms and versions available in other languages on the site, the Portuguese version shall prevail, as Portuguese is the official language of the Operator and of its registered office.

Questions, requests, legal notices or any correspondence relating to these Terms of Use should be directed to Suki Desu through the channels listed below. Messages that clearly state the subject matter and, where applicable, the URL of the relevant page will receive a faster response.

The Operator undertakes to review and respond to communications within a reasonable time, having regard to the complexity of each request and any statutory deadlines applicable under the LGPD and the Marco Civil da Internet.
