Below I want to give my opinion on the anime Darling in the FranXX and discuss whether it is really worth watching. Although I think most people have probably seen it, some still hesitate, and others are newcomers to the world of anime.

The Mecha Genre does not usually attract all anime fans; some simply shy away from this genre. I myself am not very attached to the genre, even though my favorite animes are mecha like Aldnoah.Zero, Gurren-Lagann, and Code Geass.

Despite this, both mentioned works have several things in common that manage to captivate viewers. The focus is not on the mechas; the anime has a very interesting background plot that involves comedy, action, psychology, romance, and drama. A positive point for Darling in the FranXX!

At first, I felt bad and reluctant to watch the anime, mainly because of the memes related to fan service and ecchi that aren’t even that present, only alluding to those with polluted minds. After the tremendous success and all the talk, I decided to give it a chance and loved every episode.

Darling in the Franxx also has plot twists like in animes such as Gurren-Lagann that catch the viewer by surprise regarding the story and the origin of the universe. There are scenes in this anime that will truly make you cry. The anime addresses several serious themes such as slavery, prejudice, rules, and torture, pregnancy, and more.

In conclusion, I felt quite bad about the anime, but it was because it ended. I was very sad, cried a lot, couldn’t sleep, and the whole anime touched my heart deeply. The anime has a very sad story and vibe; each episode surprises you more with the characters’ stories, their passions, love triangles, and much more.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t like giant robot animes or ecchi; this anime is totally different from the others, an anime that truly has a story, which even stepping outside the bounds of reality can impress anyone who watches. My rating for this anime is 98 out of 100 just because I don’t want to be biased.

Second Season of Darling in the FranXX?

A New Story Begins! The anime ends with this information, which left many wondering about a possible continuation. Some even confused it with a pre-announcement of a continuation. Many want to see Zero Two and Hiro again, but everyone understood that they were no longer themselves in the end.

Despite this, we don’t want you to lose hope. The story ended beautifully, it bothered some with the ending, but it wrapped up well! All the problems were solved… Of course, since it is an original work, it could happen like in Code Geass, which received several movies and even a resurrection.

Unfortunately, I want to be realistic; the chances of a new season are very low. If it happens, the anime will have to start from something different; the story and war are over, what will happen in the future?

There are two situations that leave fans curious about a continuation. Firstly, the supreme leader of the VORM did not die and declared war in the near future. Others noticed that Princess Urrosauro did not die; she simply disappeared.

So there is indeed a possibility of a new season; it is up to the author to decide if they want to touch the work, which may be a bit difficult. The anime and manga sell well, generated money, and were successful; they have everything to have a continuation or second season; they will just have to work with the main characters who were reborn.

The Best Ending in the Manga of Darling in the FranXX

The story of Hiro and Zero Two in the manga is quite different from the ending of the anime. In the manga, Zero Two and Hiro do not die and go on to live a normal life with the rest of the parasites left on Earth. This is a unique take on the ending, but it really doesn’t reveal much about the couple’s future.

In fact, this is the best ending for the work, without involving beliefs of reincarnation that were placed in the anime; this allows the friends to stay together instead of dealing with the pain of death. If you are looking for a happier ending than what was shown in the anime, the manga is the way to go.

Mitsuru and Hiro promised to pilot together when they were younger; while this is never done in the anime, the manga allows it to happen. Hiro forgot this promise during his memory wipe but made sure to fulfill it in the manga, much to the delight of many fans with this yaoi moment.

The ending of the manga left some things out; it was quite rushed, but at least no one died in space; they stayed together on Earth. Some secondary characters were left aside, but their future can be seen in the anime.

Facts and Curiosities about Darling in the FranXX

We had several easter eggs, curiosities, and facts that went unnoticed by some viewers that we intend to list below:

Hiro had his personality erased; he is terrible at art and drawing, which may be related to the rewriting of his personality. Did you know that in real life, the voice actors for the English version of Hiro and Ichigo are married? The book that Hiro likes to read in the anime is called The Golden Bough.

Hiro and Zero Two got married in the anime – 002 appears in the last episodes in a wedding dress in space and says that the two are on their honeymoon together. Although it is not a civil ceremony, the creators wanted to make it clear to fans that they got married.

The episode titles are symbolic and usually summarized with one word. The names of the urrosaurus also reference things from real life, such as moho, a type of extinct bird.

The cores of the urrosaurus resemble the cores of the angels from Evangelion; this is just one of the many similarities between the animes. This is because a large part of the Darling in the Franxx team also worked on Evangelion.

Many believe that Darling in the FranXX drew some inspiration from Eureka Seven, and Zero Two has many similarities with Anemone. They are practically identical, both in hair, style, clothing, and characteristics.

The story follows a young man named Renton Thurston who lives a monotonous life, but one day his life changes when he meets an unusual girl riding a mecha.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

One of my favorite animes, it has a vibe quite similar to Darling in the FranXX, with romance, unexpected things in the story, and an ending that also makes you cry and leaves you depressed for weeks. Many things resemble this anime, such as traits and submissive humanity.

In fact, the same studio that made Darling in the FranXX also made Gurren Lagann and other animes that step outside of reality like Kill la Kill. Even though A-1 Pictures did a large part, the story is credited to Studio Trigger.

In this anime, two great friends who live underground digging holes dream of the surface. One day, upon finding a robot, various things happen, and they discover the true truth about the surface. (Just with this synopsis, you can’t know anything about this grand work).

Aldnoah.Zero

This anime has a perfect soundtrack composed by Hiroyuki Sawano; its visuals are beautiful and impressive, and the story involving the war between humans and Martians (who are actually humans) manages to show various facets of humanity.

The anime also has a background romance involving a love triangle between a princess, a human, and a Martian that manages to captivate throughout the story, accompanied by a beautiful soundtrack that makes any grown man cry. The anime is also of the mecha genre, but it doesn’t focus on them as much.
