Dr. Stone - Curiosities and New Season

Dr. Stone is a science fiction anime set in a post-apocalyptic world. All of humanity was petrified and it will be about 3,700 years since then. But, Senku our protagonist, is reborn and now has the mission to rebuild civilization based on science. This anime was released in 2019 and is in its second season. In this article, we'll tell you a little bit of his story, spoilers and trivia about Dr. Stone.

The story of Dr. stone

The anime tells the story of Senku, a young prodigy student, fascinated by the science universe. But something unexpected happens, completely changing the life not only of our protagonist but of all humanity. A mysterious light turns all humans to stone. Some 3700 years after that event Senku is miraculously reborn.

Using his great intellect, Senku recreates the same conditions that made it possible for him to be revived, causing his friend Taiju to be healed as well.

Now they hold the key to bringing civilization back to life. But, unfortunately something unexpected happens, Senku and Taiju are surprised by Lions and are forced to bring back to life Tsukasa a very strong young man who helps them get rid of the Lions.

However, the relief is short-lived as Tsukasa has a very different ideology to Senku. Tsukasa wants to take the opportunity and recreate a primitive world, in which only pure (young) people will have the opportunity to be resurrected.

Seeing that Tsukasa would now be an imminent danger, Senku plans an escape together with Taiju and Yuzuriha who had just been "depetrified". This escape ended up not working out and forced Senku to fake his death. For Tsukasa, his biggest rival, would be dead and the way clear to fulfill his desire to form a "world of stone." What he didn't expect is that Senku would be alive and Taiju and Yuzuriha would be working as spies watching his steps.

Meanwhile, Senku discovers a small civilization of humans who haven't been petrified and now together with them, he plans to use his incredible genius to form a "Kingdom of Science" and bring civilization back.

What I thought of Dr. Stone?

Anime has its charm. When I started seeing Dr. Stone was excited to see the relationship between prehistory and the post-apocalyptic future and how those themes were going to be addressed. And I was really surprised by the anime, the way it puts scientific elements is often comical and exciting.

No boring chemistry classes, instead the character Senku manages to convey his love for science in a way that makes you want to be a scientist too.

You characters are cartoons, but they fulfill the role of a good comedy well. They are very charismatic and funny and easy to get attached to. It also has a very intimidating and serious antagonist that breaks the ice with the comedy, which makes the story more interesting to watch. In short, I really liked the work, it's a great anime, with a creative story, with good art and great music.

Curiosities of Dr. stone

Over the course of the anime several characters have been "depetrified", and most of them literally have no idea what happened. They had been in an unconscious state for all these years, but Senku was different.

Over these nearly 4000 years, Senku has managed to remain conscious. Senku counted the seconds of each day, keeping time for 3,700 years to make sure that when he woke up, he would know exactly what had changed around him.

Another character who did something similar was Taiju. He loves Yuzuriha, but couldn't confess his feelings for five years. When he finally was going to confess, he ended up being petrified. But it was his impulse to finally tell her how he felt and declare his love for her that allowed Taiju to remain conscious during his petrification for several thousands of years.
