What is Tokyo Ravens?
The narrative of Tokyo Ravens is about Onmyou magic. It is a strong supernatural ritual. An Onmyouji Yakou ceremony is conducted to make Japan a formidable nation, but the process goes wrong and turns the entire Japanese continent possessed.
The central plot of the series is about Haruturo, who has no magical power, despite being born into an Omnyyoji family. He struggles to save the world when he learns that the Onmyo Agency is trying to perform the ritual again.

Overview of the first season of Tokyo Ravens
The first season of Tokyo Ravens aired on October 9, 2013. It continued until March 26, 2013.
One of the best elements we liked about Tokyo Ravens is that, as common as the plot of “Tokyo Ravens” may seem, we recognize that it is not limited to the 12-episode format and instead uses the 24-episode format. This made the overall flow very smooth.
This change also allows it to do proper justice to the source material and supports character development.
Being an action genre anime, it lasts until fame and gives viewers some extraordinary fight scenes with above-average animation. But the problem arises when it tries to use CGI in those scenes and goes too far.
Even though the first episodes have a slow start, the second half of the anime picked up the pace and began to win the hearts of the viewers.
We cannot call Tokyo Ravens a masterpiece, but it is also not a failure. What really works in its favor are the different types of characters that have wisdom and unpredictable personalities.
Since the first season ended, fans have been eagerly waiting for the second season of Tokyo Ravens. This usually happens with many animes like One Punch Man making a return, but for Tokyo Ravens, it has been almost seven years.
Still, there is no word from the production studio about the second season of Tokyo Ravens. What is stopping it from being released? Let’s try to find the answer!

Why is there still no 2nd season of Tokyo Ravens?
If we consider the source material, there are 11 volumes of the original light novel available, of which the first season adapted nine.
It is a challenge for the creators to make a sequel with only two volumes. The authors of the manga series have not announced anything about its renewal. As of now, the future of this anime looks bleak.
Unfortunately, things have not worked in favor of Tokyo Ravens, from content to sales and prestige. It is not very pleasant for viewers who were waiting for the second season, but sometimes it happens.
Speaking of the profit and popularity of the first season of Tokyo Ravens, it also did not meet expectations here. Tokyo Ravens did not perform well in the sales of light novels or Blu-ray DVDs.
As the chances of a sequel depend heavily on how well the previous season does, it does not seem very promising in the case of Tokyo Ravens. Looking at these factors, many viewers considered that it was canceled.

What to expect from the second season of Tokyo Ravens
According to some reports, the 2nd season of Tokyo Ravens may not start where the first season ended. It may take a different stance from the first season.
The second season may reveal something that was not addressed before and is anticipated so far. The second season of Tokyo Ravens may focus more on the origin of the demonic powers. It may also reveal the truth about the Onmyoji ceremony.
2nd season of Tokyo Ravens: Characters
It seems that if the second season arrives, we may see some new characters. At the same time, the main characters will remain the same. Let’s find out who they are!
Harutora Tsuchimikado: Harutora Tsuchimikado is the main protagonist of the first half and the son of a Tsuchimikado clan family. Despite being born into a noble Onmyouji family, he has no magical power. He seems to live a peaceful life, as he could not achieve anything without any supernatural powers.
Touji Ato: Touji Ato is Harutora’s best friend from school. He can sense spirits and has a deep knowledge of onmyodo. He realized that Natsume summoned Hokuto before Hokuto herself. He is enrolled in the Onmyo Academy in Tokyo with Harutora and usually helps Harutora with problems.
Natsume: Natsume is the main protagonist of the second half. She is Harutora’s childhood companion and the daughter of the main Tsuchimikado family. She is a wealthy onmyouji visiting a school in Tokyo. She is also an heir of the Tsuchimikado family. People consider her the incarnation of Yakou Tsuchimikado.
Suzuka Dairenji: Suzuka Dairenji is the youngest of the Twelve Divine Generals, known as “the Prodigy.” She is a wanted criminal for studying and practicing a forbidden spell. Suzuka arrives in the village in search of Natsume so that she can use her magical powers in the Taizan Fukun Ritual, which Natsume has been studying, with Yakou Tsuchimikado, to revive her brother. This leads Suzuka into conflict with the Onmyo Agency.
2nd season of Tokyo Ravens: release date
Considering the facts we mentioned earlier, we can say that the creators of Tokyo Ravens used it to promote the volumes of the light novel series and generate increasing profits for the publishers, which did not happen.
The release date for the 2nd season of Tokyo Ravens has not yet been officially announced, but looking at the current progress on the subject and the movements of Shonen Ace, we can assume that the 2nd season of Tokyo Ravens may arrive in the fall of 2021.
