Monogatari Series - All the anime so far

Otaku

Per Nilson Santos

Who doesn't know or at least has heard of the Monogatari series anime? For many, the terror of those frames in the middle of the scenes leaves a mark on the soul (like in my case). In other cases, people spend more time stopping to read the content of those frames than actually watching the anime itself.

After all, we can't deny that the Monogatari series has a good/great story. It's a shame that the anime doesn't follow a chronological order according to the events. This ends up leaving a somewhat uncomfortable feeling while watching. But everything passes as the story develops on its own.

And just to list it here, the nekomata most famous among all anime (in my opinion and many others). Who is nothing more than our Hanekawa, the best girl in all the anime. Whom the protagonist ended up rejecting, contradicting and angering a good part of the fans.

Monogatari series

Finally, leave your opinions in the comments. Let's continue with our presentation. The Monogatari series anime were originated from a light novel written by Nishio Ishin and illustrated by Vofan. It was released on November 1, 2006.

The success saw it receive the first anime adaptation on July 3, 2009. This first version had only 15 episodes – with 12 episodes released on television and the other 3 on the internet.

Despite seeming to have been a failure – due to the number of episodes – the series is one of the best-selling of all time. Receiving, subsequently, six more animated adaptations, various short films, OVAs, and movies.

It turns out that the generic title brings the reader – later spectator – quick novels. Therefore, there are several seasons with different titles and unpublished arcs. You can check out all the animated adaptations below.

1. bakemonogatari

Released on July 3, 2009, it is the first adaptation of the novelist Nishio Ishin. It had 12 episodes aired on Japanese television and the last three on the internet.

The story revolves around Koyomi Araragi, a third-year high school student who is a vampire. One day, a very introverted student trips on a staircase, her disaster makes her fall into the arms of Koyomi. The beautiful Hitagi Senjougahara – according to the vampire – seemed to have no weight. She was light, as light as a feather.

The young girl threatens Koyomi and asks him not to tell anyone anything. However, the boy ignores Hitagi's request and offers help to the girl.

2. Nisemonogatari (2012)

After Koyomi wakes up, he realizes that he is being held captive. Subsequently, it is revealed that Hitagi captured him and is keeping him imprisoned for his own good. The young woman then starts to tease him in various ways.

This plot implements new characters and other elements present in Japanese folklore.

3. Nekomonogatari (Black) (2012)

This new saga begins before the events of the 2009 anime – Bakemonogatari –. After Tsukihi kicks Koyomi out of bed, he asks his sister about her feelings for a classmate.

The next day, Koyomi is riding her bike around the neighborhood when she runs into Tsubasa, her classmate. The girl had a bandage on her face and reveals that her stepfather assaulted her.

The young man offers the power of his blood to heal her. Later, the girl is possessed by an evil spirit that inhabited a cat. From there, things start to unravel more and more and get more romantic and demonic.

4. Nekomonogatari (White) (2013)

The beginning of the second season of the Monogatari series marks the start of the second semester at Koyomi's school.

Tsubasa encounters a spirit in the form of a large white tiger. Intrigued by what happened, she reports the event to Hitagi. The protagonist's sister suggests asking Koyomi for help, but Tsubasa refuses.

Later, a suspicious fire destroys their house. Hitagi helps her friend and the two begin to investigate whether the great white tiger has anything to do with the fire in her house.

5. Kabukimonogatari (2013)

It's the last day of summer vacation. Koyoami is looking for Mayoi. As the boy searches, he comes across Yotsugi. He reveals to Koyoami that, like Mayoi, when he died, instead of becoming an immortal, he turned into a ghost.

The protagonist finds himself at a crossroads due to having to finish his school summer homework. Soon, he begins to think about the possibility of going back in time to finish the lesson.

He and Shinobu open a portal to go back to a day in the past. However, they realize that they have gone back eleven years in the past.

6. Otorimonogatari (2013)

With her body fully transformed into an apparition, Nadeko confronts Shinobu and Koyomi. The principal tries to assault her in an attempt to kill her. However, it is Koyomi who is stabbed in the heart.

These are the first few minutes of the first episode. The narrative begins a few days earlier, on Halloween.

7. Onimonogatari (2013)

Continuation of Kabukimonogatari, Koyomi finally manages to return to the present and returns Mayoi's backpack.

In their regression, a mysterious being begins to stalk the two. They only manage to escape with the help of Yotsugi, who flies away, fleeing the being.

Upon telling Shinobu about the creature, they discover that this darkness was seen by her in Japan 400 years ago. If nothing is done, she could destroy the entire city.

8. Koimonogatari (2013)

On New Year's Day, Hitagi calls Kaiki requesting her services as a con artist. Kaiki tries to lie to her saying he's in another city, but the excuse isn't enough. The girl blackmails him, saying that she will reveal her secrets.

9. Hanamonogatari (2014)

With Koyomi and her friends graduating, the story focuses on Suruga Kanbaru's third year of high school. Dealing with problems with her monstrous left-hand physique, she discovers that there's a devil around who might be able to fix her "little" problem.

10. Tsukimonogatari (2014)

After Koyomi is woken up by the sisters, he realizes it's Valentine's Day. He girls start to get into several discussions, showing a more human chat about the girls' behavior, school duties and their preparation for the future.

However, there is a narrative break when Koyomi realizes that, when she gets out of the shower, her reflection is no longer appearing in the mirror. The young man had completely turned into a vampire.

11. Owarimonogatari I (2015)

The story goes back to the point where Koyomi meets Ougi. In the present, the two find themselves locked in a bizarre classroom. For some reason – and somehow – the two live a nightmare stored in Koyomi's memories.

12. Koyomimonogatari (2016)

Retreat the events of Bakemonogatari, Koyomi and Tsubasa discover a mysterious stone in the school garden. The plot has several twists involving the other series.

13. Owarimonogatari II (2017)

After being killed by Gaen, Koyomi is sent straight to the deepest part of hell. There he meets Mayoi who introduces him to his liberator, Teori.

Teori offers the reincarnation to the young Koyomi, who is in doubt about the request.

Monogatari series - KIZUMONOGATARI and Zokuowamonogatari

There are three films that adapt the arc from the beginning of the whole story. Where koyomi first meets Acerola-orion Heart-under-blade, the vampire who turns him into a vampire. (The same one who is the best loli (there are several in the anime) in the entire anime)

There is still a fourteenth story to be released in May of this year, titled Zokuowarimonogatari.

my favorite loli

Another great part for Monogatari series fans is the character designs. For some reason, they make us feel something like affection more than normal for the character. Even when we realize there is a "villain," we soon lose much of our hostility. I can't explain this, and I certainly don't know if everyone feels this way.

The point is that the character designs are captivating. And I don't know why, the anime has several lolis, with literally striking personalities. For example, my favorite loli of all anime is none other than Yotsugi Ononoki. This one:

And I don't want to know, let the UN, the Federal Police, the Military Police, the FBI, the SWAT, the Guardianship Council come even together if they want to. But no one can stop me from stating this here. Anyway, let's wrap things up here, so as not to stray further from the topic of Monogatari series.
