For the Japanese, anime are just cartoons that are popular and part of Japan's youth culture. But Brazilians and foreigners who have a different culture sometimes develop a certain prejudice or misunderstanding about Japanese animations.
In this article, I want to address 2 reasons for prejudice against anime. The first is the prejudice of religions against Japanese animations. The second is the prejudice of young people and adults who believe that anime and cartoons are for children.
If you like anime and have gone through a similar situation, you must have tried to explain your taste, and the person probably ignored you and continued with wrong ideas in mind. I don't believe this article will change the person's opinion, but it should make them have a bit more respect.

Anime vs Religion
If you are a member of a Christian religious organization, you may be advised not to watch anime, some of your brothers or your country say that anime is for the devil. That anime is full of spiritism, violence and immorality. This is true, as well as series, movies and books that also have spiritism, violence and immorality.
Now if you are a religious, will you stop watching TV or Movies, just because there are inappropriate movies for Christian? More than 300 Anime are released a year, among them many are romantic comedy, drama, life stories, and do not have any inappropriate content for Christians.
In fact, many animations show Japanese culture, which is known for its politeness, purity, humility and love. If your child or friend watches an anime that you consider inappropriate, you have every right to complain about the content they are watching, but never complain about Japanese animation in general. Don't be an ignorant person. Among movies and anime, it is easier to find anime suitable for Christians than movies.
Anime is for kids
Some people tend to criticize anime as something childish, just for being animation. These people are probably in the same group of gamers who prefer graphics over fun. Without even wanting to know or understand the subject.
Anime have genres just like movies and series. There are anime with blood, anime for an adult audience, and many others. If a person has the courage to say that anime are for kids, it's better to ignore them. This person probably found the style and the voices of the characters childish, or had a bad experience.
Some simply don't like it because they prefer real flesh-and-blood movies and series. There's no point in discussing this; you will only create a new war like the Old Gamers vs New Gamers, or the Apple IOS vs Android.
I don't like anime
Many people do not like any type of Japanese animation, sometimes they like American animations, but not Japanese ones. This type of person probably grew up watching dubbed things and doesn't have the enthusiasm to watch subtitled ones.
Or maybe this person cannot understand or adapt to the Japanese language and culture. Maybe you watched an anime and didn't like it, and you think that everyone is the same.
You have every right to choose what you like or not, but if you don't like anime, treat them with more respect, don't criticize or complain about those who watch. Do you feel happy when someone comes and criticizes something you like? Treat others as you would like to be treated.
Otakus...
One of the major reasons for prejudice and criticism against Japanese animations is because of the otakus. It's pointless to discuss this topic; it all involves cultural issues that even the Japanese do not accept. Mutual respect is important.
If you are an anime addict, control yourself! I know many like to share anime and Japanese culture with people, but you may be collaborating with this prejudice.
Is that you? What do you have to comment on the subject of this article?
