In this article, I want to talk a little about Telegram and how it can help you study Japanese, consume otaku content such as anime and manga, in addition to the numerous tools that Telegram bots provide.
For those who don't know, Telegram is a messaging app just like whatsapp, but much superior. With it you can easily find channels and groups on topics of interest to you or perform functions through bots that allow you to download music, translate, take quizzes and find interesting information.
On my website kevinbk.com I've written an article listing thousands of bots for telegram, you can read clicking here. for those who don't know, bots are robots that perform a certain predefined function. Anyone can create a bot on Telegram.
Instead of writing separate articles to suggest tips and bots for Japanese learners and another for otakus, I decided to do it all in one article. Hope you like the article! If you liked it, share it and leave comments!

How to study Japanese with telegram?
We know that the predominant messenger in Japan is Line. Fortunately, Telegram is quite strong in Brazil and around the world, which gathers many students of the Japanese language in one place.
One of the ways to study Japanese through Telegram would be to join a channel or chat group of Japanese language students or only Japanese speakers. So you can exchange ideas and learn more.
You can also do this on whatsapp and Line, but Telegram has much more functionality for group chat, in addition to bots that allow you to perform a function in real time or in a separate chat.
You can, for example, subscribe to our Suki Desu chat to receive notifications of new articles or questions directly on your Telegram. To join our Telegram chat just go to https://t.me/skdesu
Telegram Bots for Japanese Learners
It is possible to learn Japanese and other languages with the thousands of bots on the platform. Below are the main bots I recommend for Japanese learners:
- @YTranslateBot – Translate texts from multiple languages without leaving Telegram;
- @TranslationChatBot – Translates a group conversation;
- @YTranslateBot – Great for quickly translating sentences or expressions;
- @PhotosetterBot - OCR tool (extract texts from images);
- @PronunciatonBot – Sends audios with the correct pronunciation of a text in several languages;
The bots mentioned above can help when communicating with Japanese people through the app or other Japanese learners. Remember that in Japan, Line is much more popular, so try to use it instead of Telegram.
- @japandictbot - Japanese dictionary on telegram;
Telegram bots for otakus and anime fans
If you come across an image of an anime but don't know which episode or which anime the image belongs to, just send it to @WhatAnimeBot and he will find the answer for you. With it, you can find the name of the anime, episode, and other information from an image.
Another bot that does reverse searches for anime is @reversesearchbot. With the @AnimagramBot, you can download your favorite anime in Portuguese directly on Telegram and watch on various different servers.
