Synopsis: Alcia is a world governed by "Count": Numbers recorded in a person's body, representing any number related to his life. These counts determine the social status and power of a person in Alcia. If a count reaches zero, the person is sent to the abyss, a place that there is a place is worse than death.
Hina, a traveler whose counting is based on the distance he traveled, witnessed his mother to be dragged into the abyss. Determined to fulfill her mother's last wishes, she departs on a journey in search of legendary Asees - war heroes that took place three hundred years ago, with a white star next to her count.
As he wandered, Hina finds Licht Bach, a mysterious masked man with negative counting, and Nana, owner of a tavern. In the midst of having fun, Hina is fooled in a battle with a military soldier. However, despite his negative count, Licht rescues Hina and reveals that he has another count, one with a white star, from a legendary ace.
The piler follows the journey of Hina and others inhabitants of Alcia, while discovering the truth about his world, the abyss, and the legendary Aes.
