Versailles no Bara
Synopsis: In a period of class stratification and growing tensions among the impoverished population, the Austrian Empire sends Princess Marie Antonieta to France to marry the prince Louis XVI. Political marriage is organized to strengthen the alliance between the two countries, but the future queen is deeply dissatisfied with her destination being decided by her. Upon arriving in the country, Marie Antoinette meets Oscar Fançois de Jarjayes - Commander of the Royal Guard.
Due to his father's desire for a son, Oscar is raised as an expectation of inheriting his title as commander. Although she is revered by men and women, Oscar cannot but want to live life as a woman instead of disguising a man. As an Oscar is reluctant to the spoiled young queen, the growing resentment and suffering of the poor becomes harder to ignore - especially when Marie Antoinette frivolously passes her wealth.
