Let's look at the translation of each word and explanation of the anime's name:

シュタインズ・ゲート ゼロ
  • シュタインズ - Reference to "Steins", part of the name of a character or concept related to science.
  • ゲート - It means "door" or "portal," referring to a passage between different realities or times.
  • ゼロ - It means "zero," symbolizing a fresh start, an initial state, or the absence of something.
The name "シュタインズ・ゲート ゼロ" (Steins;Gate Zero) represents the intersection between the science of time travel, symbolized by the word "gate", and the concept of starting over and mourning, suggested by the word "zero". With the trajectory of Rintarou Okabe, who is trapped in his memories and past traumas, the title reflects his internal struggle and the possibility of confronting and interacting with the echoes of his lost friend, Kurisu, through the AI simulation called Amadeus. This search for meaning and connection in the midst of pain and despair is at the heart of the series' narrative.
