Synopsis: The curiosity of the student of the Keita Amano primary school is as innocent as any other child of his age. But when one day he decides to venture more into the forest, he finds a small, mysterious capsule. Out of its depths come whisper. After 190 years in prison, this ghost creature is happy that someone has kindly had to free him. He decides to reward Keita by becoming his guardian against supernatural forces. Whisper is one of many youkai that exists in the world and provides Keita a special Youkai clock, which allows you to see and interact with all the other youkai.
Youkai Watch follows Keita, Whisper and the Spirit Jibanyan cat while they find you, befriends them, corrects the whole problem they usually cause and, with the help of the watch, use the powers of youkai previously found to help them. Young Keita may have been just an ordinary primary school student when he found Youkai, but the many adventures that follow his discovery give him invaluable experiences and precious life lessons that help him grow.
