Uchuu no Stellvia
Synopsis: In 2167, a wave of radiation released by the supernova of neighboring Hydrus Beta caused cataclysmic damage to the earth, leaving millions dead. Now it is the year 2356. United to rebuild the earth, humanity is preparing for the second wave of destruction of the supernova.
To protect the planet against future damage, massive space colonies called "foundations" were built throughout the solar system. Acting as centers of knowledge and exploitation, it is in one of these foundations - Stellvia - that Shima Katase applies to being a preparatory student against her mother's wishes, aspiring to see space directly with her own eyes.
At Stellvia, Katase trains to become a pilot and hopes to be selected for the "great mission" to protect the land from the second wave. As she fights with her pilot classes and her tumultuous social life, she slowly grows in someone who may be able to protect humanity.
