    In "Kashi no Ki Mokku" (better known as "The Tree of My Friend" or "The Wooden Puppet"), the end of the story differs slightly depending on the version of the work. In the original version of Tsuboi Sakae's work, published in 1939, Mokku, the living wooden puppet, ends up sacrificing himself to save the boy Japeto from a fire. The tree from which Mokku was carved ends up blooming as a sign of life and hope, showing that Mokku's sacrifice was not in vain. In the 1972 anime version, Mokku also sacrifices himself to save Japeto from a fire, but in the end he is rewarded with a new form of life as a real child, finally being able to live together with Japeto. Regardless of the version, the story is marked by themes such as love, friendship, sacrifice, and hope, leaving a positive message about the importance of caring for and valuing our loved ones.
