Tiger & Bunny is a super heroes anime who make an appearance on TV in order to accumulate points and audience. Despite being a 2011 anime, it had its recent debut on Netflix where I watched it and enjoyed it a lot. In this article, we are going to talk about some trivia, spoilers and new season of this Sunrise anime.

The Tiger & Bunny Story
As usual, Sunrise's anime is original and created by Keiichi Sato, the creator of The Big O and Karas. The Tiger & Bunny series is set in a fictionalized version of New York called Sternbild City, where "justice" and "heroism" are traded goods.
45 years ago, certain individuals began to manifest superpowers called NEXT and several of them chose to become superheroes. Each is sponsored by real-life major companies, which are featured as advertisements on the heroes' uniforms.
Their heroic activities are broadcast on the popular television show Hero TV, where they accumulate points for each feat of heroism performed and the highest ranked hero of the season is crowned "King of Heroes".
The story primarily focuses on veteran hero Kotetsu T. Kaburagi, aka Wild Tiger, a middle-aged man with a young daughter who is one of the least popular heroes in the town's rankings.
When his original sponsor is purchased, he is given a partner, a young man named Barnaby Brooks Jr., forming the first duo of heroes. However, Barnaby and Kotetsu have trouble working together as their methods and views constantly clash.
What did I think of Tiger & Bunny?
Because it's a 2011 Anime that I almost never hear about, I was a little afraid, but I decided to give it a chance. The synopsis felt a little strange and made me think it would be more of a comedy anime with no main story.
When I started watching it, I was hooked from beginning to end like other Sunrise anime. They are very good for making original anime, my only complaint is the use of CG in the armors, but it was very good for the time of release.
The heroes are very charismatic and worked, the main characters and their limitations and differences create a unique and fun experience full of adventure. The anime has great villains and criminal organizations that arrest and cause a good suspense.
It's been years since I found good anime like this, it was a big surprise to have let this beautiful work pass since 2011. I liked it so much that I'm even able to fit it into my TOP 10 anime.
I'm a hero because I want to help people. Isn't that reason enough?
Tiger & Bunny Sequel and New Season
In addition to the 24-episode series, the anime won two films, the first taking place in the middle of the anime's timeline and the second (The Rising) takes place after the events of the first season of the anime.
A second season for Tiger & Bunny was recently announced in the year 2022. Perhaps it is the main reason why Netflix premieres this anime worldwide in 2021 in order to boost its popularity again and highlight the second season.
Because it is an original Sunrise anime, a new season will always be possible. We've already seen the impossible happen like Lelouch's resurrection after decades. Not to mention several Code Geass Spin-Offs.
If you have any doubts about possible new seasons and sequels of Tiger & Bunny, you can rest assured, the anime took 10 years to win a new season that will arrive in 2022. Never lose hope! The anime is very good in all aspects.

I don't know if you'll notice, but the anime takes place between 1913 and 1978 although technology has evolved differently, with exoskeletons, computers and androids already existing.
Most companies in the city of Sternbild are named after Greek mythology such as the Poseidon Company, responsible for the city's urban transport. Other companies like Apollo, Titan and Helios are responsible for some heroes.
Sternbild City
The city is based on New York and several other places in the world with some Greek statues that support the city. The city has suffered from a flood disaster in the past, leading to the development of its current three-level building.
The three tiers of the city are held in place by a series of supporting columns that are called the Bronze Stage (lowest tier), Silver Stage (middle tier) and Gold Stage (highest tier).
The higher the tier, the more opulent the lifestyle. Accommodations are large and varied, from apartment complexes to traditional Japanese-style houses.
In the center of the city is the Tower of Justice, which serves as the headquarters for the city's heroes. The city's seven largest companies (Apollon Media, Helios Energy, Helperides Finance, Kronos Foods, Odysseus Communication, Poseidon Line and Titan Industry) are arranged in a wide circle around the Tower of Justice, each also represented by a large statue of a mythological creature.
Tiger & Bunny Characters and Heroes

Wind Tiger
Kotetsu T. Kaburagi [鏑木・T・虎徹] Both its Japanese name and the T make reference to the Tiger. Kotetsu is one of the series' main protagonists and a veteran hero whose lack of consideration for collateral damage in fighting crime has earned him the nickname "Crusher for Justice" by the public.
He begins the series as one of Sternbild City's least popular heroes. Kotetsu cares more about helping the townspeople than earning ranks, points, or fame; a trait that many of his peers disapprove of. Its power consists of increasing its abilities for 5 minutes.
Barnaby Brooks Jr.
Barnaby Brooks Jr. is a rookie hero who doesn't hide his secret identity and the newest addition to Hero TV. In partnership and possessing the same power as the Wind Tiger, he relies more on strategy than strength.
Blue Rose
Karina Lyle is the Heroine called Blue Rose with the power to freeze things. She still attends school, lives with her parents and makes use of her heroic deeds to boost her singing career. She also works as a pianist and singer under her real name at Bar Number 06.
Rock Bison
Antonio Lopez is Veteran Hero Kotetsu T. Kaburagi's best friend and companion. His bull-themed costume includes advertising for Japanese steakhouse chain Gyu-Kaku.
Little is known about Antonio's past before the series, except that he grew up in a small town near Kotetsu's hometown and that he was the leader of a small gang in high school for a while until one of his subordinates was kidnapped.
Sky High
Keith Goodman, known as Sky High, is one of Sternbild's most popular heroes and has been the "King of Heroes" for at least two years in a row. Currently, all that is known about his past is that his powers manifested when he was 18 years old.
Fire Emblem
Fire Emblem is a flamboyant hero with fire abilities and is equipped with a highly maneuverable racing car. Sponsored by “Helios Energy”, his costume contains advertising for Fujitsu's FMV.
Nathan grew up in what appeared to be an all-boys boarding school. During his youth, Nathan was bullied and shunned for showing interest in feminine things like rings and makeup. a representation LGBT... no Anime!
Dragon Kid
Pao-Lin Huang, also known as Dragon Kid, is a young kung fu fighter armed with a staff and capable of producing lightning. His Chinese-style uniform includes advertising for the Japanese food company Calbee and the Japanese website DMM.com.
Pao-Lin appears to live with his manager Natasha, who also acts as his legal guardian as his parents still live in China. She personally hates girly things but still considers herself a girl.
Cyclone Origami
Ivan Karelin aka Origami Cyclone is a hero who wears a kabuki-themed ninja and samurai-inspired costume. At first, Ivan mainly appears in the background of photos and broadcasts to please his sponsors.
As the show continues, Ivan decides to be a more active hero, though he feels his powers aren't made for combat. He assists in evacuations, ensures that citizens are safe and actively participates in capturing criminals with his weapons and martial arts.
