Yonaguni Ruins: The Lost City

Some believe they are construction debris, others already look like a pyramid. It is unknown if its formation was from nothing or if the man who built it. Ever heard of Yonaguni Ruins?

The gigantic structure is called Yonaguni-jima (与那国島 / よなぐにじま) as it is the closest place to Yonaguni Island.

This structure is also called the Lost City or Japanese Atlantis. This was one of the greatest archaeological discoveries on the planet and is remarkable for its complexity.

Let's face this underwater adventure to learn more about this archaeological fact.

The search for the lost city from Yonaguni

In 1986, diver Kihachiro Aratake discovered the ruins while making an unpretentious dive through the place.

In 1992 the scientist, physicist and teacher Dr. Masaaki Kimura began to study the ruins. And for almost twenty years he dedicated himself to diving and researching the place.

And since 1995, divers and scientists began to study this construction in depth at sea.

The Doctor. Masaaki Kimura believes that these ruins belong to the Ice Age period, so these ruins could be over eight thousand years old.

The idea came from the idea that all the water in the world was concentrated in the northern hemisphere at that time.

University of Tokyo geology professor Teriaki Ishii believes that the structure was submerged in the last ice age, more than ten years ago, being twice as old as the pyramids in Egypt.

In 1997 Dr. Masaaki published a research on the lost civilization called A Continent Lost In The Pacific Ocean. In the study he defends the existence of a place with a well-developed civilization.

On May 4, 1998, the islands of ruins suffered from tremors caused by earthquakes.

After the phenomenon, footage was taken in the submerged world and to intrigue even more structures similar to the ziggurats (resembling a temple) of Mesopotamia.

Stones with carvings, tools, stairs also appeared with the tremor, making the idea of everything having been created by nature increasingly distant.

Yonaguni location

The ruins are located one kilometer from Yonaguni Island in the western part of Japan south of the Ryukyu Islands.

This island is the westernmost in Japan. Its area is 28.88 square kilometers and it has about one thousand seven hundred and forty-five inhabitants.

The ruins are located from twenty-five to one hundred meters deep.

Theories around origins from Yonaguni

The origin of these monuments is still a mystery that intrigues archaeologists and scientists! But this monument is approximated by researchers to 8,000 BC

On the one hand, archaeologists and geologists believe in the idea that it is just a rock formation generated by the work of nature through the action of sea currents due to a long period of time.

A researcher at the University of the Ryukyu named Takayuki Ogata believes the structures are formed naturally because there are other similar formations on land.

Other scholars bet that men themselves created it due to the perfectly fitted geometric structures.

Other evidence that suggests the existence of a ancient civilization it is the unknown writings on the walls, towering sculptures and staircases, roads, ramps, which may indicate that people lived in community.

The comparison is made with the Inca ruins that are in Peru. The structure itself is very similar. These ruins are even the most visited destinations on the continent.

In videos divers also show the existence of channels that could be used to transport water.

Structure features Yonaguni

The ruins are one hundred meters long and fifty meters wide. The highest point of the structure is approximately thirty meters. The main structure is over 150 meters long.

The writer Graham Hancock, author of several books on ancient buildings in the world, said that there are specific and complex structures around the ruins that are inexplicable to the understanding of modern man.

So it takes a lot of investment and years of research to get a clue as to how all this came to be important for us today.

Why is this finding ignored by the media?

Knowing exactly how these ruins came to be contradicts everything that is known about human history.

The architectural ensemble considered to be the oldest is in Sumer and is only seven thousand years old and the pyramids in Egypt are four thousand years old.

If Yonaguni is even older than eleven thousand years, as many geologists estimate, it will significantly change the history of civilization as we know it today. That would mean reviewing everything regarding history that we already know.

The japanese government neither does it invest in scientific research focused on the submerged pyramids, nor does it recognize it as a determining historical factor.

The Doctor. Masaaki Kimura claims that there may still be at least ten structures similar to Yonaguni's to explore and understand more about how we got to where we are currently in human history.

Myths and legends behind Yonaguni

As the Yonaguni ruins are such a mystery, there are certainly many myths and stories around it that could even be fanciful.

But as we are dealing with the unknown, it is not possible to know to what extent it may or may not be true. One of the legends says that these structures were built by aliens!

There are still others who say that the island is located in a dangerous area with supernatural activities. Other legends speak of ships that disappeared in the region and were never found again.

What is your theory on how this structure came about?
