Top 10 gaming anime

Hello everybody, How are you? Today we have another anime recommendation list, this time we will go with the theme “Game” or better known in its English form “Game”. Exactly as the theme suggests, the anime on this list will contain and wrap their plot in games. All will be essential anime for anyone looking for anime in this theme. So let's stop small talk and move on to the list, because that's what interests us.

Remembering that most of the synopses written in this article were translated from "Sword Art Online Art Trailer". The article got a little long because we included a detailed review of each anime, so we'll make it easier to navigate with a summary below:

Sword Art Online (SAO)

For a good start, here is one of the most influential anime of recent years, generating an absurd popularity that made it rise to the first position of many sites (including the My Anime List site) when it comes to Games.

As I like to classify him, this is in my opinion “a super fan-raiser”, as he managed to attract a very high number of people to become his card-carrying fans. And not only otakus, this anime managed to attract a lot of people who didn't even know that our otaku world of anime existed.

Synopsis

“Join ten thousand people in the scenic and elaborate world of Aincrad, filled with fantastic medieval weapons and hideous monsters. However, in a cruel turn of events, players soon realize they can't leave; The game's creator has trapped them in their new world until they complete all one hundred levels of the game.

To escape Aincrad, Kirito will have to interact and cooperate with his fellow players. Some are allies, while others are enemies, like Asuna Yuuki, who commands the leading group trying to escape the relentless game. To make matters worse, Sword Art Online isn't all that fun and entertaining: if they die in Aincrad, they die in real life. Kirito must adapt to his new reality, fight for his survival, and hopefully break free from his virtual hell.”

Opinion

With his extremely tense plot, he achieved what many tried and failed. I believe that the plot itself was very well developed so that we never forget that they were dying and had to return home, congratulations to the author of the light novel, from which the anime was based. This anime has two seasons, 1 movie and its third season is to be released soon.

No game No life

Yes, this one couldn't be missed. After all, two hikikomoris otakus, brilliant and genius gamers, with a fondness for cute animal girls and who are transported to another world where there are several other races, can't go wrong.

Synopsis

This is NGNL, with our geniuses Sora and Sugiro (two brothers, a boy and a little girl loli who is on my list of the best lolis in anime) are invited by a “game god” to go to the other world.

Being another great success, this anime has a comic plot and quite complex in some parts, with extremely genius protagonists, and brilliant gamers. With a legend made just for them in the world of virtual games, where they are known as " ".

Don't worry, I didn't spell it wrong, I didn't spell it at all, as they were never named in the games they played. Anyway, in the other world they decide to challenge the God of games, but for that they need to “conquer the world”, that is, they need to somehow dominate the other races in order to obtain the right to this challenge.

Opinion

This anime currently has 1 single season (if it were up to me, it would already be in the third) and 1 movie with a story of how this other world became the world of games.

I particularly love this anime and I highly recommend it has some complicated parts to understand but they are all explained in the course of the plot. Honestly, the graphics are amazing, fluid scenes and the character designers are beautiful, that's in my opinion, if you don't agree, just comment below.

  • Minha nota para esse anime é 10

Overlord

My acclaimed Overlord, one of the best anime of all time in my opinion. And I believe that in thousands of people who, like me, have already watched this anime.

Synopsis

Tell us the story of Suzuki Satoru, known as Momonga, or later, Ainz Ooal Gown. Where he played an extremely popular game in the 21st century. But the final time of the popular virtual reality game Yggdrasil has arrived.

However, Momonga, a powerful mage and master of the shadowy guild Ainz Ooal Gown, decides to spend his last moments in the game as the servers begin to shut down. Much to his surprise, despite the clock striking midnight, Momonga is still fully aware of his character, and on top of that, the non-player characters seem to have developed personalities of their own!

Faced with this abnormal situation, Momonga orders his loyal servants to help him investigate and take control of this new world, hoping to find out what caused this development and if there may be others in the same situation.

Opinion

I'm a big fan of this anime, besides the character designs are beautiful, as is the example of Albedo, who is a succubus, or Shaltear, who is a vampire.

You can already see that this anime does not have human characters as usual, on the contrary this rule is totally ignored and to prove it we have the fact that the protagonist is an undead skeleton.

This fact is the cause of many problems and impediments for the protagonist, after all, an undead will always be strange, and he has to confirm this problem.

This anime currently has 3 seasons (the third is currently on release), 1 Reboot movie from the first season with some extra scenes. There are also some OVAs with stories totally disconnected from the anime, but which are very funny.

The article is still halfway through, but we recommend also reading:

Death parade

Now think with me, how is it decided whether we go to heaven or hell? If you said by our actions here on earth, according to this anime, you are sorely mistaken. Death parade is an anime that shows a very interesting way of deciding our destiny, that is, “we decide with a game”.

Synopsis

“After death, there is no heaven or hell, just a bar that lies between reincarnation and oblivion. There the attendant will, one after another, challenge pairs of the recently deceased to a random game in which their fate of ascending to reincarnation or falling into the void will be staked.

Whether it's bowling, darts, air hockey, or anything in between, each person's true nature will be revealed in a ghastly parade of death and memories, dancing to the whims of the bar master. Welcome to Quindecim, where Decim, arbiter of the afterlife, awaits! "

Opinion

Basically, you go where your skill dictates. Ironically it doesn't always depend on whether or not you're good at games, after all there are some gotchas in between. To know what these pranks are, you need to be very attentive to the plot of this anime. Death parade also contains romance, psychological, drama, etc.

I personally haven't finished watching it yet, but I'm almost done, and I say that the beginning can be a little lacking, because it's boring and slow, but once you get the rhythm of it, everything gets more interesting. This anime has one season. And I also advise using the 3 episodes rule in this anime (watch 3 episodes first and then decide if it's advantageous to continue or stop watching).

  • Minha nota para esse anime é 7

Accel world

First protagonist, and I think he's the only one who is short and chubby, that's not the worst extremely selfish and egocentric, fearful and in some parts extremely dumb. You can already tell that this is an extremely bad protagonist. However, I like it, because it's not that kind of protagonist like most, kind, thinks about everyone, happy, brave, etc.

Synopsis

“Haruyuki Arita is a high school student who is overweight and finds solace in online games. But his life takes a drastic turn one day when he discovers that all of his high scores have been headlined by Kuroyukihime, the popular vice president of the student council. She then invites him into the student lounge and introduces him to "Brain Burst", a program that allows users to accelerate their brain waves to the point where time seems to stop.

Brain Burst also works as an augmented reality fighting game, and to get more points to speed up, users need to win duels against other players. However, if a user loses all points, they will also lose access to Brain Burst forever.

Kuroyukihime explains that she chose to show Haruyuki the program because she needs his help. She wants to meet Brain Burst's creator and find out why it was created, but that's easier said than done; to do so, she must defeat the "Six Kings of Pure Color", leaders of powerful factions within the game, and reach level 10, the highest attainable level. After the girl helps Haruyuki overcome the bullies who torment him, he promises to help her accomplish her goal, and thus begins the duo's struggle to reach the top. "

Kuroyukihime, My Favorite Waifu

Opinion

This protagonist is the representation of reality, that's right, the naked truth. And that's why he's successful. I believe that some will drop this anime, however I advise that instead of refusing the protagonist, I think it's better to accept his way, as we accept the way of the people around us.

This, I believe, was one of the goals of the author of a light novel series like sword art online, to make a protagonist like this in his other work. And I also recommend reading the light novel, because there are much more details than in the anime.

Currently this anime has 1 season, 1 OVA, 1 spin-off. I think the chances of a new anime coming out are almost zero. But the light novel helps us a little.

This anime is very well qualified in MAL, but its income was very low. This is getting to be ironic. But anyway, I recommend this anime for those who like technology and games, and also for those who want to see an anime in which the protagonist is "normal", in the sense of personality.

  • Minha nota para esse anime é 9

Kakegurui

This anime tells the story of a gambling addict, literally a sadist for going against chance. What does that mean? Basically that the protagonist, I almost forgot to mention that she is a female protagonist in this anime.

She takes pleasure in being mentally tortured by the chance of losing in games, it seems crazy, who would take pleasure in feeling that pressure? But anyway, this is Kakegurui, a ecchi with psychological drama.

Kakegurui - characters, story, curiosities, new season

Synopsis

Unlike many schools, attending Hyakkaou Private Academy prepares students for their time in the real world. As many of the students are children of the richest people in the world, the academy has its quirks that set it apart from all others. By day, it is a normal school, educating its students in history, languages and the like.

But at night, it turns into a gambling den, educating them in the art of dealing with money and manipulating people. Money is power; those who come out on top of the games are at the top of the school.

Yumeko Jabami, a seemingly naive and beautiful transfer student, is ready to try her hand at Hyakkaou's special curriculum. Unlike the rest, she doesn't play to win, but for the thrill of the game, and her insane way of betting can bring a lot of new cards to the table.

Kakegurui drama

Opinion

Honestly, my opinion of the protagonist is quite low, maybe because she doesn't have the romance I expected to have. But the plot itself is top notch, all the cheats and strategies used in the games they show and explain here. I believe the author had to do a lot of research to develop a plot as intriguing and complex as this one.

Currently this anime has a season released and another one is about to be released soon. I hope it comes out soon, I want to see if the protagonist's novel is another character that is also important in the plot.

I recommend this anime mainly for people who like psychological pressure and complex plots with many secrets. However I advise you not to jump to conclusions about it with just 1 or 2 episodes, as well as death parade, let's go with the 3 episodes rule.

Net-juu no suume

Have you ever played a game with the avatar of another gender? For example, a man plays a female avatar, or a woman plays a male avatar. If so, you will identify a lot and understand what I couldn't.

This anime shows a woman who just got out of her job and decided to become a NEET, or hikikomori, if you don't know what it is (and even if you do) here on the site we have an article exclusively to explain what a hikikomori is, I advise take a look, it's quite interesting.

Synopsis

For the first time since graduating from high school, Moriko Morioka, 30, is unemployed – and she couldn't be happier. Having left her long job of over 11 years, Moriko quickly turns to online gaming to spend her now plentiful free time reinventing herself as the handsome and vigorous male hero “Hayashi” in the MMO Fruits de Mer.

With the pesky real-world social obligations out of the way, she happily plunges headlong into the realm of gaming, where she readily meets the kind and lovely healer Lily. Creating each other almost instantly, the two become inseparable just as Moriko herself becomes more and more engrossed in her new "life" as Hayashi. Eventually, Moriko adopts the reclusive lifestyle in its entirety,

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Moriko, a shy 28-year-old corporate employee named Yuuta Sakurai has also accessed Fruits de Mer from across town. Coincidentally bumping into each other at the convenience store one night, they both dismiss the meeting as not being over. than just another awkward encounter with a stranger – however, fate has more in store for them than they realize.

Opinion

Honestly, this anime has very funny parts, and I really liked the protagonist. That's right another anime with a female protagonist. However, this anime is simpler than the previous one, or should I say, lighter. Despite involving the game genre, it doesn't count as much action, or rather, it has practically no action. But this is not mandatory, after all, what you don't have in action, you have in romance and comedy.

Net-juu basically has two main points, the first is its very charismatic and friendly protagonist, she is one of my favorite waifus (if you don't know what waifus is, or even if you do but want to know even more, we have another article talking about waifus here on the site). And the second is your romance. Honestly, I don't like one-sided romances, or those that one likes the other but doesn't say anything, the romance genre needs more anime like Net-juu, where the romance is clear in the first half of the anime, of course it has its obstacles in the way , but that just makes the romance even cooler.

This anime currently has 1 season and 1 OVA, which only confused the plot, which is a huge pity for me, after all, it left an incredibly open ending. Season 2 should be announced soon.

Netoge no yome wa

Not to stop talking about romance, here we have another one, however, this is the typical romance that is more for friendship than dating. Basically it's the story of a player who gets married in an online game, and meets the girl in the real world. The plot develops around how he deals with this girl and her problems, problems that are a little eccentric.

Synopsis

After working up the courage to propose to a girl in an online game, naive otaku Hideki "Rusian" Nishimura is devastated when she rejects him. To make matters worse, the girl reveals that she is actually an older man in real life. With his dreams crushed and his heart broken, Rusian comes to an abrupt decision in the midst of his tantrum: he will never trust another girl in an online game again.

Years later, Rusian is now in a guild with three other players, one of whom has a female avatar by the name of "Ako". Ako is deeply in love with Rusian and wants to marry him. Though he considers the possibility that she might be a guy, Rusian accepts his proposal, claiming that her gender doesn't matter as long as she's cute in the game.

However, after an argument between the guild members that led to them all having an offline meeting, Rusian discovers that Ako, along with the other members, are not just girls, but also her schoolmates.

Opinion

Honestly, this anime didn't get me excited. My grade for it was not high, maybe because the game theme was not compensated, it seemed more like a slice of life anime, and the romance could be better too. In addition, I expected the protagonist to have more attitude. And that's what I can comment on.

  • Minha nota para esse anime é 6

Btooom

When I talk about romance, I hope to be as good as Net-juu or this anime. Btooom, in addition to well-developed romance, it has an incredible theme. After all, how would you feel if you were kidnapped and thrown onto an island to participate in a battle royale based on an extremely popular virtual game?

Now temper that with the fact that you are the best player in the world at this game. Always remembering that the game is based only on your skill with strategy. If you think it's a good plot, I agree with you.

Synopsis

Ryouta Sakamoto is unemployed and lives with his mother, his only achievement being that he is the main player in Japan's popular online video game, "Btooom!" However, his peaceful life is about to change when he finds himself stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere, with a small green crystal embedded in his left hand and no memory of how he got there. To his dismay, someone decided to recreate the game he loves so much in real life, with the stakes being life or death.

Armed with a bag full of unique bombs known as "BIM", players are tasked with killing seven of their fellow participants to obtain their green crystals, used as proof of their victory, in order to return home.

Initially condemning any form of violence, Ryouta is forced to fight back when he realizes that many of the other players aren't as receptive as they seem. Teaming up with Himiko, a fellow Btooom! player who turns out to be his wife in the game, they try to leave the island together, slowly getting closer and closer to the truth behind this deathmatch.

Opinion

Although the romance takes a while to happen, the action and psychological pressure of this anime will not let you notice the passing of the hours. Leaving you totally submerged, this is just based on my own experience, there will always be different tastes.

But in my opinion, this is a highly recommended anime, its plot of events are very interesting, especially in the character development part, most characters have some story behind.

Currently this anime has only one season, that's why it didn't have so much audience, but I faithfully hope it has a second season.

Quanzhi Gaoshou

This anime tells the story of a professional gamer who is the best player in the most popular game in the world. However, he is kicked out of his company and his account taken from him. However, he will bounce back and show everyone in the world why he is considered the best player in the world. Despite being a Chinese anime, its stunts and character design compete on equal terms with the Japanese, and this is an exception to the rule. The only thing that bothered me at first was the dubbing, after all the languages are different.

Synopsis

Widely regarded as a pioneer and top-tier professional player in the online multiplayer game Glory, Ye Xiu is nicknamed the "Battle God" for his skills and contributions to the game over the years. leaving his gaming career behind, he finds work at a nearby cybercafé. There, when Glory launches his tenth server, he throws himself into the game once more using a new character named "Lord Grim".

Ye Xiu's first achievements on the new server immediately caught the attention of many players as well as the big guilds, leaving them wondering about the identity of this exceptional player. However, while he has ten years of experience and in-depth knowledge, starting over without sponsors or a team in a game that has changed over the years presents numerous challenges. Along with the talented new companions, Ye Xiu is once again dedicated to making his way to the top of Glory!

Opinion

For starters, this anime is Chinese so if you analyze the plot well, you will notice several disconnected and meaningless parts, apart from that in my opinion it was too compressed, which makes it very difficult to understand it.

However, these demerits are offset by its action scenes and fluidity. Awesome graphics, that's my review for this anime. And it still has the badass protagonist. This anime currently has a season and a few extra episodes, in addition to having its second season announced for the summer 2019 season.
