Have you ever been curious to know which countries watch the most anime in the world? In this article, we will share different interesting data regarding the popularity of anime across our globe.

Countries Where Anime is Popular

If we determine the total number of people who watch anime in each country, China, India, and other countries with high populations will be at the top. It is not a fair comparison, so we should look at the values proportional to the population of each country. Let’s see the percentage of the population in each country that watches anime.

If we analyze the percentage of the population that watches anime, we will see that countries like China and India do not even appear in the ranking, so we cannot say that anime is popular in those countries.

In Japan, about 75% of the population watches anime, whether casually or not. In the United States, about 71% also claim to watch Japanese animations.

In Brazil, only 55% of the population claims to have watched anime, while in the neighboring country, South Korea, 50% of the population watches anime.

Countries with the Most Anime Dubs

One way to check the popularity of an anime in each country is to see how much the country invests in the broadcasting of dubbed anime, which allows reaching a less restricted audience.

Certainly, the English language is predominant in dubbing, so countries like the USA and the UK have a good amount of dubbed anime. Followed by European countries and Spanish-speaking Latin America, which receive a good amount of dubbing.

After the arrival of streaming services like Funimation and Crunchyroll, there have been more and more dubbed anime, making it very difficult to create a list ranking the dubbed anime of each country.
